Don't Like - Buffs
When you’re really into something people might say you’re a fan, enthusiast, fanboy, head, connoisseur or… a buff. Of all these things, a buff is the one you want to be called the least—even if there is no functional difference. The thing about buffs is that they’re really annoying and seem to care mostly about history or movies, and not the interesting histories or movies. History buffs seem to know way too much about WWII tanks, just as movie buffs seem to know the Rotten Tomatoes the years “best movies.” Perhaps it’s not accidental that buffs like to flex their knowledge above all else. However, that style sharing knowledge is never that fun to engage with. It’s not informed by a deep passion for something. Rather, it’s about checking factoids off a list to score cheap points. While that might keep your brain strong, it does nothing to keep it from being boring.
