I’ve been house/dog sitting for a friend of mine this week, which has meant that I’ve been sleeping at his house in his king-sized bed. And you know, a king-sized bed is just too big. It turns out that adding an extra 16 inches in width from a queen-sized bed is an extra 16 inches too many. My girlfriend spent the night with me the other night and it was almost like we were sharing two separate beds except that we were still sharing one blanket and no one in the future would say, “Ew, what a bunch of prudes.” We sleep comfortably apart in a queen-sized. But in the king, we could flail our arms and not touch each other. The experience had the aura of being in separate hemispheres. King-sized mattresses also present a range of practical problems. It pains to me think about how awful it must be to move one of these mattresses and it’s also absurd how much room they take up in your bedroom. If you have the space, great. I certainly don’t. All of this said, we both slept pretty well on the mattress and the nights where I’ve been here alone, I’ve slept great. But I sleep great on my queen-sized mattress all the time. So I guess the question is: am I bad at luxury or is bigger not always better?

Wait until you downsize to a full! Heaven.
If you are a larger person and so is your partner, a king size bed is the most comfortable.
