I’d like to start by saying that I have a lot of male friends who’ve had or currently have bleached blonde hair and they are lovely people. This is not about any of them and isn’t a referendum on their moral character. Likewise, if you are a man and you want to bleach your hair, that’s your prerogative. Now that those critical caveats are out of the way… Are we really still doing this? Did we fully accept this as a good look for the average dude? Is it really a hot guy haircut? Does it count as having an edgy style? Isn’t bleached hair just kind of blah at this point? Did you have something to say but weren’t sure how to say it? And hasn’t this been done by the most annoying people who dominate pop culture? Do you really want to have the same hair Justin Bieber had in 2015? Is Pete Davidson really your idea of a style icon? Is Machine Gun Kelly cool to you? Like what the hell is going on here? Fellas, I would like to know. Then again, am I being a narc? Should I start saying things like “demon mode” or “vampire hours?” Is this a me problem? Do I need to put in the work? I mean why is it that I don’t like the way other men style their hair? What does it say about me to have such a petty opinion and feel the need to express it? Plus, who am I to judge when I’ve never had bleached blonde hair myself? Those might be fair points. But also… I’m just over this hairstyle. Maybe all of it is true.
