Over the last decade or so, a new American flag has risen in prominence. It’s not too dissimilar to the official flag, but it’s always in black and white and it’s often frayed at the edges. It’s a hallmark of right wing companies and it’s an undeniably doomer take on the Stars and Stripes. It has a militaristic vibe but in a much more blackwater-style mercenary way. It says “I’m a specific kind of American, one who has been left behind and knows that society is at peril and I’ll use my rights as I see fit.” Ostensibly, said person is a patriot but only on their terms. If they truly believed in the country, they’d wear clothes with the official flag on it—the flag that is supposed to guarantee the promise of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness to all. But, of course, that’s not what right wing politics is after and they’re not afraid to wear it right on their t-shirt sleeves. This tactical American Flag is for people who are passionate defenders of what they imagine the constitution to be.
