Like - Ceiling Fans
Ceiling fans are one of those things that we got supremely right. They don’t cool a room like AC does but they don’t use as much electricity or pump hot air back out into the hot world either. They sit up above your head and whirl the air around you. They bring the breeze inside without being as loud and annoying as a box or standing fan. They’ve got dangly strings, blades, and a lamp in the middle. Plus, they make a game of keep off the ground much more exciting when the ballon takes a wild turn. The only downside to ceiling fans is that they’re often pretty ugly—or at the very least they’re not beautiful. When asked, most people won’t describe the ceiling fans in their dream home, the way they’d tell you the Viking Professional Range they would totally put in the kitchen. That’s fair. But maybe it’s also a massive opportunity. Maybe what this really means is that someone needs to make better looking and working ceiling fans. And just maybe… that someone is reading this post right now. So if that person is you, don’t forget me when they’re calling you the king of ceiling fans and you’re speaking at Davos about how you single-handedly solved global warming. Maybe you could give me a seat on the board as some sort of ex-officio luminary-type role. That feels fair as air, doesn’t it?
