Happy birthday to Things I Like And Don’t Like! I have to say I’m genuinely happy to type those words. When I started this blog, I only had one hope for it and that was to post every day for a full year. Why? I couldn’t tell you, except for that felt like a good challenge. Well, today is one year. However, since that was my only goal, I’ll say a few other things about writing this blog because this one year old has more to say than goo goo ga ga. The thing I like most about writing this blog is that there isn’t a point to it. I don’t offer useful analysis on a specific industry or subject. I don’t offer meaningful life advice or have a relatable story to tell. There’s no checkout code (yet) and these posts don’t follow any sort of discernible pattern. But that’s been the fun of it. I enjoy writing about things, even when I don’t really know much about the topic I’m writing about. This blog is a shoot from the hip type of operation where the hope is that a post will hit somewhere on a Venn diagram target of being thoughtful, funny or stimulating, even if you don’t agree. I also really enjoy seeing people’s responses to these posts. I love it when you comment, write me back directly in an email, or send me a text to voice your opinion. So I guess the best thing about this birthday is that it happened. It would have been easy to miss a post here or there, or even give up the blog completely. But I didn’t because of everyone who subscribes and has told me they get kick out reading it. That really means a lot to me. And if that sounds corny, well, that’s ok because it’s true.

I’d really like some TILADL merch to celebrate this moment
One thing I really like about TILADL is that it means that I think about you every day - kind of like we're passing in the hall, or shooting each other a quick text about something that strikes us. I'd obviously think of you often in any case, but the everydayness is really nice. I like TILADL and don't like imagining it not being in my inbox every day.
