Like - Orange Bang
Orange Bang was a part of my childhood. Growing up in Southern California, many of the local casual restaurants had this and it was delicious. It was light and frothy and orangey and creamy. Orange Bang was essentially an Orange Julius but you didn’t have to go to the mall to get one. They’d just be out and about ready to be enjoyed in a large styrofoam cup with a colorful decal on it. It was a truly enjoyable drink with its lovely amateur branding and ridiculous name. But it had be those things because it’s also kind of an odd drink. Orange Bang is a mix of orange juice, low fat milk, and egg whites. Kind of an odd combo on first blush. I can’t say I’ve ever looked at those three ingredients separately and thought, “Hmm, I don’t know, maybe they would be good together.” And I’ve had and enjoyed Orange Bang! Even as I write this now, I have a hankering for the drink and don’t have a desire to recreate it. I’m not sure that I’d get it right and I’d be sad if it wasn’t as good as I wanted it to be. I’ll have to come upon it organically instead.
