I was visiting my mom earlier this year when her new toilet paper became a hot topic of conversation. You see, my girlfriend and I had noticed her toilet paper had a wavy edge to it. Neither of us had seen it before and it was rather intriguing in the way that boring things become interesting as you get older. She quickly informed us that this wavy edge we were talking about is called “scalloped edge” and she really liked it in a way that people don’t commonly speak of their toilet paper. I personally didn’t think much of it then. It was nice but I wasn’t that smitten with it. I was the kind of guy who liked to buy the nicer generic rolls of toilet paper. Not the fancy name brand stuff but the perfectly serviceable rolls sold by Kroger. Now, I say I was that kind of guy because once I joined Costco, my girlfriend and I spotted the scalloped edge toilet paper and when we saw that it was cheaper than the toilet paper we were buying before, we got a bunch of rolls and we’re not coming back. It’s real nice stuff. A little thoughtful touch to make a small part of your day a little better. It rips real smooth and it feels real soft. It’s also a bit of a looker, something someone might notice and want to talk about, like we did all those months ago.

They used to make colored and printed TP, and they scented it and embossed it, but the pleasing wavy edge is the first real improvement in TP ever.
I had the same experience, except it starting showing up at all my friend's houses. 2024 truly is the year of scalloped TP...and perhaps also the year of Costco.
