Like - The Lifted Trucks Of Kauai
Regional car culture is a fascinating thing. At some point, one person decides to do something with their vehicle and others follow suit. Slowly but surely a kind of car or truck is associated with a place. Think of lowriders in LA and donks in Miami. These cultures exist everywhere it seems, including on the garden island of Kauai with lifted trucks. According to a guy I talked to when I was out there, the lifted Tacoma is the truck of choice. Driving around the island, I’d say that’s true though you see a mix of other trucks from Dodge, Chevy, and Ford. These trucks are cool. Most of them are on older Tacoma models, usually from the early to mid 2000s. They ride way up high, which you don’t have to worry too much about because you never drive that fast on Kauai. Plus, that height is useful if you ever find yourself driving on the sand. I was told that’s a big part of why so many people get their trucks lifted, though I haven’t seen any trucks driving on the beaches I’ve been to. But at some level, I’m not sure that anyone is lifting their truck several feet into their air for purely practical reasons. I think mostly it’s just the thing to do. That’s a good reason, too.
