Like - The Netflix Smiley Face

I don’t have many good things to say about Netflix these days. I don’t like the fact that they basically broke Hollywood and made everything into a crazy streaming war, don’t want to pay writers what they’re worth, are one day going to use AI to not pay writers at all, have seeded the abstract idea of content in entertainment, then make shows & movies with a contagious visual blandness, and also kicked me off my ex-girlfriend’s account when they decided to ban password sharing (no, I haven’t asked her if I can log back in). But if there’s one thing Netflix got really right it was this stupid smiley face from their log-in menu. I genuinely have no idea how this thing got approved. Look at it. There’s so much wrong with it. The eyes are weirdly big and separated, plus the mouth is bizarrely off to the side. Is it that way on purpose? Is it supposed to be smirking? Is it stupid? Is it just me or is this thing just super damn relatable? Like come on, you know? It’s wonderful and practically saying, “hur, hur, hur.” Maybe it’s how the algorithm feels when it clicks “keep watching” for you. Probably not, but it’s okay to keep dreaming here I think.
