There’s a house in my neighborhood that is pretty famous. It isn’t the biggest or most expensive, but it’s the only one that doubles as a petting zoo with a fenced off area in the yard that houses chickens, goats, and a bunny. It’s an aspirational home. A clear case of someone achieving what they wanted, while creating something that gives back to everyone else.1 The house is a magnet for kids in the neighborhood who like to come up and admire the animals. I think one neighborhood kid paid tribute to the house by writing in chalk on the sidewalk, “Animals are as important as humans” in classic rainbow fashion. It was totally lovely, until someone decided to add in their own piece to change the statement to say, “Animals are not as important as humans.” This is prime loser behavior. It’s not just yucking someone’s yum but writing over a nice thing to make a dumb point for no one other than yourself. Looking at the chalk on the sidewalk you can hear the person behind it going “hur hur hur, stupid kid.” It’s not the most serious example, but it’s representative of the kind nonsense that permeates our world. This is different from people expressing their differences. It’s petulant, tired, and boring.
Maybe it’s annoying as hell to live next to them, but I’ve never heard a peep from the animals at this residence.
What a dweeb!
