“What podcast are you listening to?” is a question you’re supposed to have an answer to now. My answer is that I don’t listen to podcasts nor do I like them. This is usually a good conversation killer. But I am no fan of ever the proliferating world of podcasts. And I understand, there is probably a good one out there that I might even like. Lots of smart, talented, funny people are creating interesting content on the medium, I just wish they were doing it another way that required more processing power on behalf of the listener. Podcasts are delivered with an intellectual sort of drawl that coaxes you into agreement. Now you might be agreeing with good things or bad things, but the point is that knowledge (true or false / good or bad) ambiently washes over you as you listen. This phenomena is particularly pronounced when you podcast while working, cleaning, cooking, etc… What seems like a productivity life hack is often in essence a form of willful self propagandizing. You go find and listen to thing that you already believe to be true, which is increasingly easy to do considering how many podcasts there are. Fundamentally, I don’t think this kind of learning via osmosis is good way for people to develop points of view. I think people should think and process and work towards their opinions. You might disagree, but at least you read this post to have your opinion.

podcasts are a bunch of BS. i just listen to AM radio
I think podcasts have their place, and I like them for certain topics, but you make an insightful point.
I suppose nonfiction audiobooks would be similarly problematic in your view?
