One of the greatest joys after eating a big delicious dinner is to surreptitiously undo your top button while still sitting at the table. That is unless you’re with friends and you can look around the table and declare that you’re unbuttoning your top button to get some much-needed relief. Private or public, the joy is the same. Not only are you relieved from the piercing tyranny but you also get to begin to take off your pants in a socially acceptable way—although the presumption is that you don’t go any further.
Some of us have to do this or the pants don’t fit. Not very funny !
